  • The first thing that you are definitely going to need is bread. For this, you can use any choice of bread you want – white bread, brown bread, plain bread, whole grain bread – absolutely anything that you and your family love!
  • 2 tablespoons of mayonnaise. You can try out the normal eggless or egg mixed mayonnaise or also the vegan mayonnaise if you are a vegan (or just for the love of it).

Ingredients For Filling

  • 1 medium-sized garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 cup cabbage, better if it is julienned
  • 3/4th cup to 1/2 cup of bell peppers; you can also use julienned capsicum
  • 1 medium-sized onion, thin-sliced
  • Carrot; depending on your love for it
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1/2 tablespoon pepper; crushed finely
  • Salt; as per taste

Optional Ingredients

  • 1 medium-sized ripe tomato
  • 4 to 8 lettuce leaves; can be used as whole or finely chopped
  • 1 medium-sized potato, must definitely be sliced and boiled

Recipe For The Veg Club Sandwich

Veggie Preparation

  1. Slice the potato into thin pieces and boil them until soft. Once your potatoes become soft, you can take them out of the water and keep them aside to cool down.
  2. While the potato is boiling, you can prepare the lettuce by rinsing them under running water from the tap. Make sure that no dirt remains left. Even a little bit of dirt can spoil your sandwich.
  3. Wash and shred your other vegetables – cabbage, tomato, onion, tomato, carrot, capsicum, etc.
  4. Toast the bread and allow it to cool down a bit.

Making The Filling

  1. Heat the pan with 2 tablespoons of oil in it and fry the boiled potatoes till the time they turn crisp on both sides.
  2. Add the garlic to it and saute for a minute.
  3. Add all the fillings except the tomato and saute them on a high flame for about 3 to 4 minutes till you start getting a delicious smell. Once you get the smell, turn off the stove.

Note: Make sure not to add too much salt as your mayonnaise already has salt in it.

Preparing The Veg Sandwich

  1. Spread the mayonnaise on the toasted slices of bread on one side.
  2. Put the lettuce on the mayonnaise, the roasted potatoes on top of it, and a pinch of pepper and salt.
  3. Place the tomatoes on the potatoes and keep the slice aside.
  4. Take another slice and place lettuce and on top of it, the stir-fried veggies. Take the other slice and place it on top of this slice.
  5. Secure the sandwich with picks and then cut the sandwich into your desired sizes.
  6. Keep the sandwich aside for 2 hours and serve it.


If you are making a veg club sandwich, or any sandwich that has mayonnaise, make sure not to use too much salt in your filling preparations. Also, this sandwich tastes better when cold. So make sure to keep it aside for sometime before eating it.
